How Inversion Tables Do More Than Relieve Back Pain

by Chris Channing

Inversion therapy is a popular form of therapy for those suffering from back pain or stiffness. This is commonly done with a device such as the teeter hang up therapy.

An inversion table takes your total body weight, and inverts the flow of blood and weight. Instead of your weight being primarily on your legs, it rests in your upper body while using an inversion table. The gravity force "pops" your back muscles and bones into the right place, along with other small bones and joints in the body. It isn't advised to use inversion therapy for severe problems, but it can be a relaxing way to adjust your body.

Posture is one of the first things that are improved upon by using a teeter hang up or inversion table. Your joints relax and are able to readjust when you return to a normal position. Little kids often hang up side down, and enjoy the relaxing feel. The same concept applies to adults that use inversion treatments for pain and stress.

Inversion tables such as the teeter hang up also improve your stretching. Static stretching after a hard workout or a warm shower can improve flexibility and muscle movement. When static stretching for a long period of time your muscles become more limber. This will prevent injury down the road and feels much better on the body.

If you have been living with poor circulation then you will probably have tried many different ways to boost it. Inversion therapy is an excellent circulation booster. A few minutes each day can make a world of difference when attempting to increase blood flow to the brain and upper extremities.

These devices also make fantastic fitness equipment for any at home gym. Since there are a few different styles, some allow your body to bend in different ways, which increases muscle tone. This is an excellent move for those that may have physical injuries or limitations. Using these machines is as easy as hopping on and gently leaning back. It isn't recommended that you do this alone the first few times, until you gain proper body control. If you have another person tilt the table back for you, it becomes much safer.

Closing Comments

Inversion treatment does it all. It increases circulation, flexibility, and most of all it relieves pain in the lower back. They should never be used by individuals that are pregnant or with high blood pressure. Be safe when using your inversion table and you will experience magnificent rewards.
