Tail Bone Pain And The Elimination Of Back Pain

Most people spend much of their time sitting. Whether it is commuting to work, and coming home and sitting and reading or watching the TV, we spend the majority of our days in a sitting position. Sitting focuses much of the body's weight onto our tailbone and if you are a person that experiences tailbone pain, each and everyday can be an agonizing experience.

If you are concerned and think nothing can be done to remedy this persistent pain, you must realize unless you have experienced huge trauma to the tailbone, such as a break, relief from pain to your tailbone can be helped by a series of lower back exercises and a change in your posture. By incorporating a lower back exercise routine into your daily ritual, you will strengthen your muscles and be able to improve your posture and thus find relief from your tailbone pain.

Posture, whether good, or bad affects many parts of our lives. From how you stand and walk, to how you sit or what position you lay in when sleeping, if you have bad posture, it can heavily influence tailbone pain, so as you can see good posture is about not only standing and walking correctly. A great postural program should address all these issues, however many do not.

The tailbone is located right at the base of our spine, is the last bone there, and is one of our body's most important support structures. The body is supported and kept aligned by hundreds of small muscles that move in a flexible way to accommodate our movement. The tailbone as well should be able to move freely without pain; however, that is not always the case.

At times, our postures compromise proper alignment, and sadly, the way we sit puts a lot of pressure onto our tailbone, which is not meant to support the weight of our bodies. Imagine it this way, your head, which is roughly the weight of a bowling ball that sits on top of a narrow support structure that ends in a small point. Additionally if you add up the several internal organs of the body around the lower spine, which all apply weight on this tiny tailbone, you may begin to understand why your tailbone may be experiencing terrible pain.

This pressure is weighing down on this small area everyday. The tailbone should move freely and without pain, however with bad posture and much weight put upon it, the muscles surrounding the tailbone will tend to tense up to try and keep you up-right in a good posture. Instead of moving freely, the tailbone will seize up and press against the newly tightened muscles. Therefore, the pain you may be experiencing in your tailbone is an indication to adopt a better posture, where your weight is more evenly distributed.

Thankfully, fixing this problem only involves a simple change in habits. Your hipbones are flat and much wider than your tailbone. Therefore, they can distribute weight more evenly. If you tilt your pelvis forward slightly, you will take weight off the tailbone and shift it onto the hips. This will free tense muscles and allow them to begin relaxing. As the muscles relax, the pain will lessen.

You can easily relieve your tailbone pain by increasing the flexibility in your lower back. By loosening and strengthening the lower back muscles, tilting your pelvis will become easier. You can incorporate these stretches into your daily routine and do them just about anywhere, even at work. Lower backstretches are not painful; in fact, they are simple, and very enjoyable. Each time you do these lower backstretches, you will feel temporary relief of pain, and over time, you will not have to deal with any pain at all.

When searching for a postural improvement program, ensure that it includes a solid routine of lower back stretches. Stretching the lower back provides the abdominal strength necessary for the forward pelvic tilt that will relieve tail bone pain.

Apart from not having to deal with pain, people with good posture appear more confident and self assured. Good posture changes how people view you and treat you. With a superb postural enhancement program, you will both be relieving your back and tailbones pains, and change how others perceive you. This can in result be one of the healthiest life changing decisions you can make.
